Section 60 of the PMRA Act mandates the Authority to issue authorization for importation or exportation of narcotic drug in addition to the import or export permit. According to the Act, where a person intends to import or export a narcotic drug, psychotropic substance or precursor for medical or scientific use, the
person shall—
(a) in addition to obtaining an import or export permit, obtain additional authorization from the Authority; and
(b) comply with additional requirements as may be provided for under the Dangerous Drugs Act, the International Conventions to which Malawi is a signatory and any other written laws.
